About Our Spaces:

Tables for our Speed-dating style networking event will be set up in the intimate space of the City Rooms (weeks 1 & 2) or Riverbank Rooms (weeks 3 & 4). We will also have access to a foyer outside of these rooms, and an outdoor City Terrace that overlooks North Terrace and the CBD for attendees to use as needed.

Located behind our FOH Desk and away from the noise of the HIVE, we will also have a Quiet Space for attendees and staff who would like a break at each event. This space will provide a relaxing and calm sensory environment. The Quiet Space will be dimly lit and include sensory toys and fidgets. This space will be clearly signed, and staff will be able to direct you to where it is located. You are welcome to use this space for as long as you need for the duration of the event.

What Happens at a HIVE?

The Honey Pot HIVE is our signature speed-dating style event that draws approximately 30 to 60 Industry participants per event. Attending industry delegates from around the world will sit at dedicated tables, while artists move between the tables holding informal rotating conversations. This gives everyone a chance to talk.

When attendees are invited to sit down, you will find each Delegate has a name plate at their table. Their Headshot and QR code linked to ‘My Honey Pot’ will also be posted on a board in the foyer for artists to browse, and will help you identify who you are speaking to.

When our Speed-dating style conversations end at 3pm, Artists and delegates will be invited to stay on for Break Out drinks until 4pm where you can engage in more casual networking and discussions.

Run Order of the event is as follows:

  • 1:15pm – Delegates Arrive
  • 1:30pm – HIVE Starts
  • 3:00pm – HIVE Ends
  • 3:00pm to 4:00pm – Breakout Drinks (You may chat for longer with delegates or artists you’ve connected with, but there is no pressure to do so).

Further Access Resources & Suggestions for HIVE Events:

  • Check Out The Venue

The Adelaide Convention Centre is a large space that we understand might be difficult to navigate. Whilst we will have signs and volunteers helping guide you to the event, you can also check out the Convention Centre layout here, or take a virtual tour of the venue here.

  • Plan Who You’ll Talk To

With a busy event like the HIVE, it can helpful to know ahead of time who will be attending, and who you want to talk to – this is where our RSVP list comes in!

In ‘My Honey Pot’ on AVR, Delegates who RSVP for a HIVE will have their names displayed on the ‘HIVE Zone’ page. Simply select ‘HIVE Zone’ and then the HIVE you plan to attend.

As Delegate names appear, you can search their profiles in the ‘Delegate Finder’ to learn more about them. This way you can plan ahead of time who you want to talk to, and get an idea of who will be present.

  • Prepare A Pitch

We understand that at a HIVE, artists may feel anxious about engaging with Delegates. One way to combat this anxiousness is to prepare your pitch before you attend. Better still, we have resources to help you do just this!

Check out our Professional Development session, ‘Pitching & On Selling Your Work’ and hear from 2022 Honey Pot delegates as they give you their thoughts on the best ways to contact them and what to bring to a HIVE.

  • Make use of our Quiet Space

Attendees should note that with so many Artist and Delegate discussions happening simultaneously, HIVE events can become quite loud. To help provide a space away from this noise, we will have a dedicated and closed off Quiet Space located behind our FOH Desk. This space will provide a relaxing and calm sensory environment for those who might need a break during the event.

This space will be clearly labeled and for use at any time. If you cannot find the space, you are welcome to speak to our Access Advocate, Kirrily for assistance, or any staff present for directions.

  • Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard

Honey Pot proudly supports the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative. Staff are trained to understand the Hidden Disability Sunflower symbol and provide support to wearers where necessary.
