Artist Agreement

Please make sure that you are familiar with the Adelaide Fringe 2024 Artist Agreement. This is an agreement between you and Adelaide Fringe and outlines your responsibilities as an Adelaide Fringe participant.

Adelaide Fringe is an open-access festival. This means we do not book events, but rather provide a festival framework for independent artists to present their work.

You understand that by taking part in Adelaide Fringe you agree to the terms and conditions outlined in the Artist Agreement.

Adelaide Fringe may terminate your participation in the festival if Adelaide Fringe determines that you are not compliant with the 2024 Adelaide Fringe Artist Agreement. Likewise, by registering and participating you acknowledge that ultimately securing performance spots, permits and insurance are your responsibility.

Insurance

Artists are responsible for their own Public Liability Insurance. Please find a list of recommended public liability insurers here, and reach out to artists@adelaidefringe.com.au for advice if you need. Some busking permits require you to submit public liability insurance with your application.

Permits

In most places that you busk, you will require a busking permit. Often councils waive the busking fees for Adelaide Fringe Street Performers. Each council will have different application processes, rules and regulations for busking.

Anyone can busk in the City of Adelaide, you just need to apply for a free permit first. You can apply online, or in person at the City of Adelaide Customer Centre during office hours. See all terms and conditions here

If you are interested in busking in the City of Adelaide, the form is available to be completed here

City of Adelaide specifically requires $20 million Public Liability insurance for those wishing to perform dangerous acts. This insurance letter should note the City of Adelaide as an interested party, the performance it is covering and the dates the insurance is covering. If you have any questions, please contact the Adelaide City Council Customer Centre on (08) 8203 7203, Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm or email them at customer@cityofadelaide.com.au

Where can I busk?

South Australia consists of 68 Councils across the state and regional communities. Each Council will have different application processes, rules and regulations for busking. You can find a full list of councils and links to their websites here. There is also an interactive map to help see where exactly these locations are.

This AVR page will be updated with busking locations as they are confirmed.

Artist Passes

All street performers will be able to access a digital artist pass through logging into their AVR account and selecting 'Pass' on the home page, on a mobile phone.
