About Artist Passes
As a registered artist or venue in the Adelaide Fringe, you're entitled to an Artist Pass. This pass is your ticket to a range of exclusive benefits designed to support you throughout the festival. It provides access to FringeWORKS, which includes a host of facilities and services from our dedicated team, plus an extensive programme of professional development talks, workshops, and panels. You’ll also unlock exclusive artist-only discounts at various outlets across the city.
We're committed to making the Artist Pass process as smooth and sustainable as possible. Back in 2021, we asked artists for their thoughts on transitioning from printed to digital passes, and a significant 72% of respondents supported the change. This feedback has guided our efforts to streamline the process and reduce our environmental footprint, however physical printed passes are still being made.
How to Allocate Passes in AVR
To ensure artists receive their pass, presenters must add all relevant individuals to each event within the PARTICIPANTS section of AVR (Adelaide Fringe’s registration system). Here’s how to do it:
- First, login to AVR and select the relevant event from your dashboard to open its menu options.
- Next, select PARTICIPANTS and then click Edit Participants.
- From there, click + Add Person to [Name of Event].
- Once you've created a person's profile or added them to your event (if they already have an existing AVR account), remember to check the box to assign them an Artist Pass.
- Assign them either a Physical or Digital pass.
Please note there’s a maximum of 10 passes permitted per event. We kindly ask that you respect the privilege of these passes and only allocate them to artists genuinely working on your event.
Artists will receive one Artist Pass per person, even if they are involved in multiple events. It's crucial to input the artist's legal name as these passes are used for identification and may be cross-referenced with photo ID. If an artist prefers a stage name to be included, please add it in brackets following their surname, for example: Jason Marsiglia (DJ FRANFINE).
A unique email address is also required for each artist. This helps us keep them informed about all the valuable opportunities available for artists to engage with throughout the festival.
Digital vs. Printed Passes
For Adelaide Fringe 2026, presenters can choose between a printed or a digital pass for each allocated artist, provided they meet the specified deadlines:
- The deadline for opting in to printed passes is Saturday 17 January 2026.
- Any passes allocated in AVR after this date will be strictly digital-only.
Digital passes are a convenient and sustainable option. Artists can acquire their digital pass by logging into their Adelaide Fringe account, which will be tagged as a participant in your show once allocated.
Collecting Your Pass
For those opting for printed passes, these will be available for collection from the Artist & Venue Team at FringeWORKS ONLY at specific times throughout the festival. We will announce the exact collection times and the FringeWORKS location closer to the festival period later this year, so keep an eye on your emails and our official communications for updates.
Important Considerations for Your Pass
Receiving an Artist Pass is a privilege, not an automatic right. Any misuse of your Artist Pass or inappropriate behaviour towards any venue or Adelaide Fringe staff will lead to the immediate cancellation and confiscation of your pass. Please treat all Adelaide Fringe artists and staff with respect.
All participants must be submitted in AVR by Saturday 17 January 2026. FringeWORKS will not issue any blank passes; all names must be accurately provided within AVR. Remember, any passes allocated for individuals after this January 17 2026 deadline will automatically become Digital Passes.
Please be aware that Adelaide Fringe Passes, Garden Passes, and Gluttony Passes are distinct from one another. You’ll need to collect venue-specific passes directly from the respective venue if applicable to your participation.
