Adelaide Fringe and FringeTIX
When you register your event with us and choose to participate in Adelaide Fringe, you're agreeing that Adelaide Fringe will exclusively sell and distribute tickets to your event. This arrangement applies unless your venue has a specific, prior agreement in place with Adelaide Fringe.
This means that when it comes to selling tickets, FringeTIX® is on hand to handle the heavy lifting for you through our integrated ticketing system. Our team is dedicated to providing efficient backend support, allowing you to focus on your performance.
Understanding Australian Ticketing Law
It's vital that every decision you make regarding your event's ticketing is well-informed. Before finalising your ticket prices or policies, we highly recommend you do your homework. Speak to other artists who have participated in Fringe, examine similar events and genres, and, most importantly, familiarise yourself with Australian Ticketing Law.
While there isn't one single national law covering all aspects of ticketing across Australia, state and territory laws often address issues like ticket scalping and reselling. However, the overarching framework for best practice in the live performance industry is set by the Live Performance Australia (LPA) Ticketing Code of Practice.
Adelaide Fringe issues FringeTIX® tickets in accordance with this important industry guide. By participating in Adelaide Fringe and agreeing to the artist agreement, you are acknowledging your compliance with the LPA Ticketing Code of Practice. This code aims to protect consumers and promote fair trading practices within the live performance sector.

Don't forget that every decision regarding tickets is your responsibility and will have to come from you (the presenter or participant with authorisation to make ticketing changes) in writing.
It covers various aspects, including clear pricing, consumer rights regarding cancelled or significantly changed events, and expectations for how complaints are handled. Adhering to these guidelines ensures transparency and fairness for your audience.
Your Responsibilities as a Presenter
While FringeTIX manages the sales process, remember that every decision concerning your tickets—from pricing to availability—ultimately rests with you. It is your responsibility, as the presenter or a participant authorised to make ticketing changes, to provide these instructions in writing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting Fair Prices: Ensure your ticket prices are clear and that any additional fees (like transaction fees) are transparently communicated to potential buyers. The LPA Code emphasises clear price representation.
- Understanding Refund Policies: Familiarise yourself with the conditions under which refunds or exchanges are processed, especially in cases of event cancellation, rescheduling, or significant relocation, as outlined by the LPA Ticketing Code.
- Avoiding Unauthorised Resale: Be aware of rules regarding ticket reselling. While specific laws vary by state, selling tickets for more than their original face value is often prohibited, particularly for major events. FringeTIX is your exclusive seller, helping to prevent such issues.
- Communicating Changes: If your event details change, such as dates, times, or venue, ensure you promptly inform Adelaide Fringe so that ticket holders can be notified according to consumer protection guidelines.
Making Changes to Your Ticketing

Please keep in mind that during peak periods, such as leading up to the festival launch or during busy sales weeks, changes may take up to 48-72 hours to process. It's always a good idea to plan ahead and allow ample time for any adjustments you need to make.
