Adelaide Fringe is committed to fostering an environment free from discriminatory and abusive behaviour. While we celebrate diverse artistic expression, this Code of Conduct specifically addresses the interpersonal relationships between all members of our Fringe community – that means artists, venues, festival workers, and audiences.

Standards Expected

By participating in Adelaide Fringe, you agree to adhere to the guidelines set out by Live Performance Australia's Code of Practice regarding discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, and bullying. This commitment helps us ensure that everyone can enjoy and contribute to the festival in a positive way.

The standards expected of all Adelaide Fringe participants include, but are not limited to:

  • Always show respect for differences and diversity.
  • Act with honesty, dignity, respect, fairness, and a courteous manner in all dealings with customers, clients, co-workers, suppliers, management, and the general public.
  • Be responsive, open, honest, and courteous when faced with a contradictory opinion. Engage in rational debate rather than resorting to vilification, coercion, bullying, or intimidating behaviour.
  • Ensure your language, behaviour, and conduct are acceptable at all times and do not discriminate, abuse, cause harm, discomfort, humiliation, or offence to others.
  • Never bully, harass, discriminate, or abuse any position of power, authority, or status, either overtly or implicitly, to seek sexual favours or for personal gain.

Commitment to Child Safety

Adelaide Fringe is deeply committed to the safety and protection of children and their families involved in the festival. This means all artists, venues, festival workers, and third parties have a role in safeguarding young people.

  • Limit any physical contact with children other than your own.
  • Never, under any circumstance, be alone with a child or children other than your own.
  • If you are working with children, you must have completed a Department of Human Services (DHS) working with children check.
  • All organisations offering services to children or young people must lodge a child safe environments compliance statement, as required by the Department of Human Services. This process is undertaken via the Department of Human Services website.
