The Arch is one of Holden Street Theatres’ most distinctive and popular Fringe spaces – an intimate former church with enormous character, exceptional acoustics and a beautiful proscenium arch with thrust stage.

The raised T-shaped stage brings performers close to the audience while providing flexibility for larger sets, scenery and equipment to be moved on and off stage, with storage available behind the performance area.

The room can be configured in traditional theatre seating or cabaret mode, making it a versatile home for theatre, comedy, cabaret, live music, spoken word and other performance.

Original stained-glass windows are backlit as part of the house lighting, while the beautiful timber ceiling and warm interior create an atmosphere that requires very little dressing to make it feel special.

The Arch has a wonderful intimacy between artist and audience. Its natural acoustics make it particularly appealing for live performance, and its heritage character gives productions an immediate sense of occasion.

A Fringe favourite with a personality all its own.
