Beyond the CBD: Fringe in Every Corner

Adelaide Fringe is a sprawling celebration that truly reaches every nook and cranny of South Australia – it doesn't just stick to the Adelaide CBD! Our festival stretches from Whyalla all the way down to Mount Gambier, bringing vibrant and eclectic shows to communities far and wide. We absolutely love making Fringe as accessible as possible, whether that’s bringing performances straight to living rooms or setting up at the local RSL.

Just to give you an idea of the reach, in the 2026 Fringe:

  • 57% of Fringe venues were located outside of the Adelaide CBD.
  • 47 different council areas hosted shows as part of the Fringe programme.

To help you plan for the 2027 Fringe season, check out some of the fantastic incentives and subsidies that councils are offering to artists performing in their communities during the 2027 festival.

Inner & Outer Metro Areas

City of Charles Sturt - Registration Subsidy & Council Arts Grants

[Western suburbs of Adelaide through to the beach | approx. 10-minute drive from Adelaide CBD]

The City of Charles Sturt are proud to support the showcasing of international, national and local arts talent in their community. For the upcoming 2027 season they will be offering a subsidy of $100 off the Adelaide Fringe registration fee of any shows or exhibitions delivered within the council area.

How do artists access this support? If your show is registered in AVR to take place at a venue within the council area at the time of checkout, this subsidy will be automatically taken off of your registration fee in the cart. Artists who want more information can contact the Artist & Venue team on 08 8100 2022 for further clarification.

The City of Charles Sturt has two grant rounds open now!

Arts and Culture Grants | Up to $5,000

The City of Charles Sturt is looking for artists, musicians, performers, filmmakers, producers, galleries, venues, and creatives of all kinds who have ideas they'd like to bring to life in their city.

Whether you're planning a gig for place that doesn’t usually have live music, an art exhibition or performance of a new work, film project, public artwork, creative activation, or something completely different, the Arts Fund can help turn great ideas into reality.

Funding of up to $5,000 is available for eligible projects taking place within the City of Charles Sturt. The program will be open on an ongoing basis until 30 June 2027, or funding is exhausted.

Event Grants & Event Sponsorship

In addition to their arts fund grants, the City of Charles Sturt offers a range of funding opportunities to support events that bring people together, celebrate culture, activate local places and contribute to a vibrant and connected community. This year they are offering several funding streams, each designed to support different types of events and outcomes: 

  • Events Grants | Up to $15,000

The City of Charles Sturt Event Grants stream supports community-led events that encourage participation, celebrate local identity, strengthen social connections and activate local places. This stream is designed to help new ideas grow and support events that deliver meaningful benefits for the community.

Applicants can apply for funding of up to $15,000 if they are planning on producing an event, festival or Fringe hub in the City of Charles Sturt for the 2027 Adelaide Fringe. Applicants looking for funding support for a Fringe event or Fringe hub must apply for this round before 30 September.

  • Event Sponsorship | Up to $10,000

Event Sponsorship supports events that deliver broader community, economic and promotion benefits for the city. Sponsorship opportunities are considered where there is a strong alignment with Council's strategic objectives and a clear return on investment for the City of Charles Sturt

The Event Sponsorship stream allows for applications up to $10,000 per year with funding available for up to three years. Event Sponsorship applications are accepted throughout the financial year and will be considered until the available budget has been fully allocated.

Before you apply to either stream, the council strongly encourages potential applicants to contact the Place Making Team to discuss their event and the most appropriate funding stream via email at placemakers@charlessturt.sa.gov.au

City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters – Registration Subsidy

[Cosmopolitan dining and shopping precincts, parks & gardens | approx. 5 minute drive from the CBD, with plenty of public transport options]

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is returning to Adelaide Fringe 2027 to support participating artists with a $125 subsidy for the first 40 Fringe registrations of shows performing in venues located within the Council area.

How do Artists access this support? To access the subsidy, link your event with a venue in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters on AVR. Your registration fee will automatically be reduced at checkout. 

Please Note: All shows that take advantage of this offer will be required to include ‘Proudly supported by the City of Norwood, Payneham & St Peters’ on their marketing and promotional material. You will also need to register your show on Council’s Events Calendar HERE.

City of Port Adelaide Enfield - Registration Subsidy

[inner north and north-western suburbs of Adelaide | approx. 30-minute drive from Adelaide CBD]

For Adelaide Fringe 2027, the City of Port Adelaide Enfield (PAE) will provide a 50% subsidy for registrations of any Adelaide Fringe exhibitions, performances and events held within the council area. Artists do not need to live within the City of PAE, but they must deliver their exhibition, performance or event within the city.

How do artists access this support? Eligible artists need to register their show with the Adelaide Fringe in AVR. At checkout, if you have registered your show in a venue in in the Port Adelaide Enfield area, this subsidy will be automatically taken off of your registration fee at checkout. Artists who want more information can contact the Artist & Venue team on 08 8100 2022 for further clarification.

Registration Subsidy Terms & Conditions:

  • Artists who access the subsidy are required to email details of their event, performance,  or exhibition to service@cityofpae.sa.gov.au with ‘PAE Fringe – Registration’ in the subject heading – along with an image for inclusion in the City of PAE Digital Fringe Guide. This guide will feature all exhibitions, performances and events within the council area.
  • All artists receiving the registration subsidy will need to display the City of PAE logo on any relevant printed material. Contact communications@cityofpae.sa.gov.au for the logo and conditions of use.

City of Prospect - Registration Subsidy, 2027 Prospect Fringe EOI & Council Support

[Just a hop skip and a jump! | approx. 10-minute drive from Adelaide CBD]

The City of Prospect Council is currently offering a subsidy of up to $200 off registration fees for Performing Arts shows AND up to $150 for Visual Arts and Design shows that take place within the council area.

Following the incredible success of their 2026 season, the Prospect Fringe and its many perks are also back for another year! Artists and Shows interested in performing at the City of Prospect run venues including...

...can apply for inclusion in the 2027 Prospect Fringe Program!

Shows that take place in the 2027 Prospect Fringe will be able to access support such as:

  • A 50% reduced venue hire fee and free post-event cleaning,
  • Services such as sound and lighting technicians,
  • Free inclusion in the Prospect Fringe Program – available online and in print; thousands of copies of this program are distributed to the local community.
  • Access to additional marketing support through the promotion of Prospect Fringe on digital, social, print supports, and through Adelaide Fringe.

The City of Marion - Waived Venue Hire & 50/50 Ticket Split Settlement 

[southern and western suburbs of Adelaide | approx. 25-minute drive from the Adelaide CBD]

The City of Marion is pleased to support 2027 Adelaide Fringe events held within the Marion Cultural Centre! 

Artists that perform within the Marion Cultural Centre will receive waived venue hire fees and a 50/50 ticket split settlement after Adelaide Fringe Fees. Please note that Adelaide Fringe registration is at an artists cost. 

To access this support, forward your EOI to mcc@marion.sa.gov.au with “Fringe 2027 EOI - Marion” in the heading. City of Marion Staff will be in contact with you.

Copper Coast Council - Registration Subsidy & Free Venue Hire

[Tour a region famous for friendly locals and some of South Australia’s best holiday beaches | A 90-minute drive from Adelaide]

This year the Copper Coast Council is supporting artists who tour their stunning coast with shows for Adelaide Fringe 2027. The first 5 shows registered to perform in the council will receive a registration subsidy of $210, and free venue hire on all Council owned venues for Fringe events (bond still payable).

How do Artists access this support? To access the subsidy, be one of the first 5 shows to link with a venue in the Copper Coast Council area on AVR. Your registration fee will automatically be reduced at checkout.

District Council of Loxton Waikerie - Registration Subsidy, Free Venue Hire, & Council Promotion

[Where the Mallee meets the Murray River. The perfect mix of rich history & modern experiences | approx. 200kms from Adelaide]

In 2026, the River Fringe’s ‘Garden of Riverfront Delights’ event drew a whopping 2000 attendees to the region. Now, returning again for its fifth season in 2027, the Loxton Waikerie Council is offering a $160 registration subsidy for events performing in venues within the area, and free venue hire for council owned and operated spaces during the 2027 River Fringe.

If you are a local or touring artist looking to get involved in Adelaide Fringe within the regions, consider participating in the River Fringe to access:

  • This $160 Adelaide Fringe registration subsidy,
  • Free venue hire for council operated venues,
  • Use of the council’s equipment bank (available for artists who may require additional support - dependent on availability).
  • & inclusion within the ‘River Fringe Guide’ and council’s broader marketing campaign (online and print media!).

Registration Subsidy Terms & Conditions:

  • Subsidies will only be applied until the total funding pool is exhausted.
  • Presenters may only access this subsidy for one event registration. If you are registering a second event within the council region on behalf of a group, you may receive a separate subsidy for that show, but will need to contact the Artist & Venues team on artists@adelaidefringe.com.au to have it applied.
  • Artists successful in registering under council subsidy are required to list The District Council of Loxton Waikerie as a sponsor on any marketing material (logos provided).
  • Artists and shows will be included in the ‘River Fringe 2026’ printed program and social media marketing.
  • Artists will be provided with a ‘River Fringe’ promotional poster template for their event marketing.
  • A negotiable majority return of ticket revenue will be awarded to artists performing from council owned venues.
  • Artists utilising council operated venues are required to complete a council event application form and provide relevant public liability insurance.

District Council of Streaky Bay - Waiving Venue Hire & Busking Permit Fees

[Pristine natural wonders, endless sandy beaches & warm and friendly locals | approx. 720kms by road from Adelaide]

The District Council of Streaky Bay is excited for shows to visit their region again in 2027! As such, for the 2027 Adelaide Fringe season, the beautiful coastal town will waive venue hire fees on their registered venues for 2027 Adelaide Fringe shows. They will also waive busking permit fees.

Artists interested in performing in the region are invited to get in touch with the Community Development Team via info@streakybay.sa.gov.au or ph.0886 267 033 to discuss how else the council might contribute to you bringing a show to the region.

Yorke Peninsula Council - Registration Subsidy & Free Venue Hire

[Explore a stunning region of inland and coastal towns | A 90-minute drive from Adelaide]

The Yorke Peninsula Council is supporting artists visiting their stunning coastline and townships with shows for Adelaide Fringe 2027. The first 5 shows registered to perform in the council will receive a registration subsidy of $210, while all artists interested in performing in the region may hire council-run venues for free.

How do Artists access this support? To access the subsidy, be one of the first 5 shows to link with a venue in the Yorke Peninsula council area on AVR. Your registration fee will automatically be reduced at checkout.
