How to register

Steps to register

  1. Create an AVR account
  2. Click Street Performer on the Home Page
  3. Fill out the steps
  4. Pay the registration fee
  5. Wait for your outcome email. Within 14 business days, you'll receive a second email letting you know whether your application has been approved and what happens next. Keep an eye on your inbox (and your junk folder!).

What happens after I pay?

Paying your registration fee does not mean your application has been approved.

Here's what to expect:

  1. Straight away: you'll receive a payment confirmation email. This is your receipt, not your approval.
  2. Within 14 business days: the East End Unleashed busking team will review your application, including your performance video and insurance, to check your suitability to perform.
  3. Outcome email: you'll receive a second email letting you know whether you've been approved. If you have, it will include details about the draw and how to get started.

Haven't heard from us after 14 business days? Check your junk folder, then contact the Artist and Venue Team at artists@adelaidefringe.com.au.

We don't cap the number of registrations, but performing spots are limited, so we can't guarantee every registered performer a spot.

What you'll need to register:

  1. Public Liability Insurance: see our list of recommended suppliers. We recommend Duck for Cover for Street Performers.
  2. A video of you performing: a YouTube, Google Drive or Dropbox link is fine.
  3. An ABN (Australian Business Number) or Statement by Supplier: only if you're opting into paid opportunities.

Performing in Rundle Mall? You'll also need a free City of Adelaide Busking Permit before you perform. You don't need to upload this with your registration.

Getting approved

The East End Unleashed busking team approve all acts to check their suitability to perform (see What happens after I pay? above).

If you're approved, you'll go into the draw, which decides where and when you perform. The main draw takes place each Thursday of the festival at 4:30pm at Hindmarsh Square.

The first super draw is the Thursday before Opening Weekend at 4:30pm. Make sure you're in Adelaide in time! If you miss it, you won't be able to busk the first weekend.

What does Adelaide Fringe registration include?

  • Visa Support
If you are an international artist joining us for Adelaide Fringe, our Artist and Venue Team can help guide you through the visa process. Adelaide Fringe will provide a Letter of Support, a required part of the visa application. Because Adelaide Fringe is a registered ACNC charity, your visa application fee may be waived if your application is accepted. You'll also gain access to the FringeWORKS support team, including the Visa Coordinator.
  • FringeWORKS
You'll have access to our FringeWORKS hub during the season. This is a great place to relax, connect with fellow artists, and get any questions about your upcoming season answered by Fringe Staff on site.
  • Artist Pass
You will get an Adelaide Fringe artist pass, giving you access to passholder discounts and free shows for passholders.
  • Performance Opportunities
With your permission, we will share your information with councils, activations, and shows keen to engage with street performers throughout the Fringe season.
  • Eligible for the Adelaide Fringe Awards Program
Check out our Awards resource for more info.
