What are Media Tickets?

Adelaide Fringe proudly supports artists by offering and managing Media Accreditation to reviewers, amplifying the reach of your work. Media who have received accreditation can book complimentary Media Review tickets if you have opted in during registration on AVR. You can choose to offer either one or two tickets per media representative, and these do not incur the usual 30-cent comp ticket fee.

Should unaccredited media request a comp ticket for a review, you can allocate comp tickets as explained in the section "How to Allocate Complimentary Tickets to Non-Accredited Media".

Media Accreditation Types

Adelaide Fringe offers two accreditation types:

  • Review Accreditation: Ideal for reputable media outlets intending to review shows. These reviewers can get complimentary media tickets via our website when logged in and must publish reviews within 48 hours on the Fringe Feed to maximise exposure.
  • Online Accreditation: Suited for media providing general show coverage (not reviews). Complimentary tickets are not included and this option is typically for newer or online-only publications.

Both accreditation types provide media with access to:

  • Publicity materials uploaded by artists (e.g., images, biographies, media releases).
  • Updates and releases from the Adelaide Fringe publicity team.

For Artists and Venues: Managing Media Tickets

Offering Media Tickets to Your Show

You can opt in to offer accredited media access to complimentary review tickets to your show at any time by emailing mediaticketing@adelaidefringe.com.au.

How to Allocate Complimentary Tickets to Non-Accredited Media

If you wish to allocate a Comp ticket to an unaccredited reviewer or provide additional complimentary tickets, follow these steps:

  1. Issue Tickets via Manage My Tix Portal: Presenter Comp tickets should be issued through the Manage My Tix Portal. This is the only approved platform, ensuring that comp tickets are correctly tracked in artists' sales reports and the Adelaide Fringe Ticketing system. You can find a step-by-step resource explaining how to issue comp tickets.
  2. Avoid External Ticketing Platforms: Issuing tickets on platforms like Promotix or Eventbrite breaches the artist agreement and risks issues with venue capacity and customer experience.
  3. For Assistance: If you need guidance, reach out to the Media Ticketing Coordinator at mediaticketing@adelaidefringe.com.au or 08 8100 2021.

Note: Tickets processed via Manage My Tix come from your general sales allocation and presenter comps incur a 30-cent fee.

Adding Reviews to Your Show Listing

Want to add a great review to your show listing? Please read the simple instructions on how to upload reviews.

Viewing Media Attendance

Want to know which reviewers are booked into your show? Generate a 'Customer By Concession' report in Manage My Tix by following this simple guide to ticketing reports. This particular report will list the name of the journalist and the publication they review for, so you know who to expect and where your review will appear.

If you have any issues with media not turning up or only using one ticket when two have been booked, please email mediaticketing@adelaidefringe.com.au. We will get in touch with the publication on your behalf.

For Media Representatives: Booking Tickets and Submitting Reviews

Booking Media Tickets

Media representatives can browse shows through two channels and then book their review tickets on our Fringe website:

  1. Media Portal: In the AVR Media Portal, media reviewers can view a filtered list of shows offering review tickets and link to the Fringe website to complete bookings.
  2. Fringe Website: Alternatively, media can browse the full Fringe program directly. Shows with media tickets will display a "Media Review Ticket" option. If this option is unavailable, reviewers can contact the show’s presenter via the contact details in the AVR Media Kit.

Review Submission and Publishing

To increase artists' show’s visibility, reviewers who receive media tickets must publish their review through their outlet and upload it to the Fringe Feed within 48 hours. Our team will communicate with reviewers to ensure this deadline is met. Approved reviews appear on the show listing, enabling more audiences to discover them.

The Fringe Feed also displays all of your 'Audience Reacts' with emojis! It's a great way for your audience to provide positive feedback about your show and you have the choice to display these 'Reacts' on your show page or not. This can be managed in your AVR, in the 'Opportunities' section. We have currently defaulted the 'Reacts' to not display on your show page, but you will be able to update this at any time by selecting 'Yes'. Please allow at least 24 hours after selecting yes for your 'Reacts' to show on your show page before contacting us.

Feel free to encourage your audience to review your show at the end of your performance by jumping online to the Fringe Feed - it's a great tool for boosting your ticket sales.

Non-Attendance

If a media representative is unable to attend after booking a ticket, they must inform the Media Ticketing Coordinator 48 hours prior to the show. This helps maintain strong show visibility and supports media allocations.
